Baby, It’s Cold Outside

…And that’s no good for your skin! Five  skin savers to help you keep your summer glow all year ’round.

If you’re like me then you know that when winter rolls around it can get even harder and more time consuming to take care of your skin. Let’s face it, with all the changing weather it can be difficult to keep up with a routine. So what are you supposed to do? Keep reading for skin-saving products that will make your winter routine easier and faster.

SPF MoisturizerMoisturizer is essential during these cold winter months. All of the wind can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry and flaky. Using moisturizer will help replenish the nutrients in your skin. Even more important, though, is using a moisturizer with SPF (yes, even in the winter). Believe it or not, sunburns are still possible and it’s so important to protect yourself. I would recommend using a moisturizer with at least SPF 15, and lucky for us this moisturizer from Neutrogena has SPF 20. Using a moisturizer with SPF in it can be a major time-saver since it eliminates the need for sunscreen, leaving you more time for selfies before you go out… #nofilterneeded

babylipsSpeaking of moisturizing, don’t forget about your lips! Nothing is more uncomfortable than dry, chapped lips that get all cut up during the winter. Luckily, there’s a quick and easy fix for that. I’m a big lip balm fan, so products like Maybelline’s Dr. Lip Rescue from their Babylips line save my life all year round, but especially around wintertime. Plus, it comes in six shades, so it’s perfect for every occasion. Perfect pout? Check.

eos handcreamRemember that time when I was talking about the lip balm and I said that  nothing is as uncomfortable as dry, chapped lips? Well, that was before I knew what it felt like to have dry, chapped, cut up hands. I’ve learned the hard way that lotion is a must in the winter, especially on your hands. After using about ten-million different hand lotions, I can honestly say that this line from Evolution Of Smooth is my favourite by far. Not only does it deliver actual, fast results to really dry skin, but it smells great! Of course, I had to buy all three because I could not decide which scent was my favourite… and maybe I’m a bit of a shopaholic…

coconut body butterI’ve covered face, lip and hand-care, and I definitely won’t neglect everywhere else. This is by far my winter go-to product. For those of you who’ve never seen this before, it’s coconut body butter from The Body Shop. It’s almost like a moisturizer, but your skin absorbs it the second you put it on, leaving your skin soft and smooth for 24 hours. The coconut oil is super-hydrating and works wonders, plus it smells great too. Not a coconut fan? It comes in a variety of scents without sacrificing any of the benefits of using a body butter. I guess you could that a win-win.

peppermint foot rescueFoot care is one of the most neglected, yet important parts of skincare all year ’round. That said, this step in your skincare routine is necessary during the wintertime especially. This peppermint foot rescue lotion from The Body Shop helps to get rid of any dead skin while keeping your feet soft and smooth. After all, your feet will be feeling tired after walking all day in your fabulous winter boots…not sure what I’m talking about? Check out my last post! Want to take your home-pedicure one step further (get it? Get it?)? Pick up one of these exfoliating foot brushes from Walmart to finish the job.
